Set a Target Total (all-in price)

Enter the tax-inclusive price a customer negotiated and let JewelTrak adjust the line prices to hit it.

Set a Target Total

When a customer negotiates a single all-in price that already includes sales tax (“out the door for $84,800”), you don’t have to work backwards by hand. On the invoice, open the Totals panel and click Set total….

Enter the tax-inclusive amount and JewelTrak redistributes the line prices proportionally so the subtotal + tax (+ freight) lands on that number.

How it works

  • Every taxable line is scaled by the same factor, so the ratio between items is preserved. This can leave line prices with extra decimal places — that’s expected, and each line still displays to the cent.
  • The sales tax is computed the normal way for this invoice — the per-item surtax cap on new invoices, the per-invoice cap on imported ones — so the result matches everything else in JewelTrak and your accounting.
  • A live preview shows the new subtotal, tax, and total before you apply, along with whether it hits the target exactly or lands at the closest achievable amount. Some totals can’t be reached to the exact cent (the tax depends on rounded line prices), so you may see a ±$0.01 note — this is normal.

Options

  • Keep trade-ins at their value — tick this to hold trade-in lines at their agreed amount and scale only the sale lines. Leave it off (the default) to scale everything, including trades.

Notes

  • Turn off Apply CC Fee first — a card fee is a percentage of the total, which can’t be solved for at the same time.
  • Changing prices requires the override price permission.
  • It only writes when you click Apply; Discard on the invoice reverts it like any other edit.
