Finding an Invoice

The invoice list has two search boxes. One finds an invoice by number or customer; the other finds invoices by what is written on them, in line descriptions and notes.

The Invoices list (Sales → Invoices) has two search boxes. Use them on their own or together.

Invoice # or customer

The first box finds an invoice by its number, or by the customer or salesperson name on it. Type a number and you get that one invoice.

Descriptions & notes

The second box, Search descriptions & notes…, finds every invoice whose line descriptions or invoice notes contain what you type. For example, type 9.50 to find every invoice that mentions a 9.50 ct stone or a 9.50 gram weight.

Under each invoice it finds, a small gray line shows the text that matched, with your search highlighted. You can see why each invoice is listed without opening it. When the match is in the invoice’s notes rather than a line, the gray line starts with Notes:.

  • The search looks for your text anywhere inside a word or number, so 9.50 also finds 19.50.
  • It ignores capital letters.

Using both

Fill in both boxes to narrow further. For example, a customer’s name in the first box and 9.50 in the second finds that customer’s invoices that mention 9.50. The Type and Status filters narrow the list the same way.

To find every sale of one watch model, use Sales by Model # instead. It also finds watches whose model number is on the watch but not typed into the description.
