The My Settings page (/settings/me) is where each user configures their own printing, scanning, and dashboard preferences. Identity stuff (display name, password, sessions) is on My Profile.
Defaults
- Default store — your home store. Setting it pre-fills the Store field on new invoices, metal buys, and other entry forms so you don’t have to choose it every time. Leave it on — None — if you genuinely work across all locations. Single-location shops can ignore this — those forms fall back to the only store automatically.
Tag Printing
- Barcode Printer — the printer used for tag printing from inventory and the bulk Print Tags page. The dropdown is populated by JSPrintManager running on your workstation; if JSPM isn’t running, you can still type a printer name (it’ll be used when JSPM next connects).
- Printer Resolution — your tag printer’s dots-per-inch, from its spec sheet. Nearly every thermal tag printer is 203; some are 300 or 600. This matters because tags are positioned in printer dots, so the wrong value prints everything the wrong size — the same tag comes out about 1.5× larger on a 203 printer than a 300. It can’t be guessed from the model name (a Godex EZ6300 is 300 dpi despite the “00”, and its print head can be swapped), so it’s asked rather than detected.
- Tag Style — the default tag template for new prints (TT306, TT365, etc.). Picking one shows a live preview with the tag image, overall size, and printable area.
- Barcode — what the tag’s barcode holds:
- Barcode of the stock number — the normal choice, and what nearly every shop wants. Scanning it on the order-entry screen adds the item to an invoice.
- QR code of the GemHub link — a QR that opens the item’s GemHub gallery when scanned. The tag’s text also comes from the item’s imported GemHub details rather than the editable tag lines, so it needs items imported from GemHub. This choice only appears for tag styles that have a QR layout drawn for them, because a QR tag is laid out per label size; if it doesn’t appear, your tag style isn’t one of them.
- Tag Font Size — Small (6 pt), Medium (8 pt), or Large (10 pt). These are the printer’s own three built-in sizes, so a size prints the same physically whether the printer is 203 or 300 dpi, and 6 pt is as small as it goes. Small fits the most information on a tag; go larger only if your tag lines are short. Every size prints bold: tag printers have no bold font built in, so JewelTrak prints each line of text twice, one dot apart, which thickens the strokes. Barcodes are never doubled — that would change the bar widths a scanner reads.
- Default Copies — how many of each tag to print by default.
- Heat Setting — how dark the tag prints, on a 1–10 dial. Tag printers are thermal, so darkness is burn energy. New users start at 4, which suits most label stock: tag text is printed twice for boldness, so it needs less heat than you might expect, and running a printhead hot shortens its life. Turn it up a step at a time if text looks grey or patchy; turn it down if strokes bleed together. (The printer’s own range is 0–19 — JewelTrak doubles your setting, so 10 is as dark as the printer can go.)
- Row / Column Offset — fine-tune tag positioning if your printer’s calibration is off.
Roll Labels
- Label Printer — your roll/die-cut label printer (Brother QL, DYMO LabelWriter, etc.), used for parcel labels and metal-lot tags. Usually a different printer from the jewelry-tag Godex, so you never have to swap the tag roll.
- Label Size — the media loaded in it: a Brother or DYMO preset, or Custom (enter width × length, leaving length blank for continuous).
There’s no rotation setting — labels are rotated automatically to fit the media.
Workstation
- Scanner Name — the scanner connected to your workstation, used for capturing appraisal photos. Populated by JSPM.
- Document Printing — whether invoices, memos, and work orders print single-sided or double-sided. JewelTrak tells the printer explicitly every time, so it doesn’t matter how the printer driver on your computer is configured — which is the point, since that’s the setting most people can’t find. It’s per user, because the printer is the one next to you. Appraisals always print single-sided regardless, and certificate pages attached to a memo do too. Tags and labels are unaffected.
- Appraisal Paper Tray — which paper tray to pull from when printing an appraisal, for printers with two trays loaded with different stock (plain paper in one, appraisal letterhead in the other). The list is your default printer’s trays, because that’s where appraisals go. Leave it blank to use whatever tray the printer normally pulls from. Appraisals print single-sided regardless of the printer’s duplex setting.
- UI Font Size — Small / Medium / Large for the app’s overall font scale.
The inactivity timeout isn’t editable here — it’s a security setting administered at the org level. Defaults are 2 hours for the browser app and 8 hours for the installed PWA; your account’s sysadmin can override either per organization.
Other
- Appraiser Title — what shows under your name on appraisal reports (e.g. “GIA Graduate Gemologist”).
The Exclude trades toggle that used to live here is now on the Sales History chart on the dashboard itself — flip it once and the choice sticks across devices.
Why these are per-user, not per-store
Every employee may sit at a different workstation with different printers, scanners, and trays plugged in. Storing these per-user means your settings travel with your account, but the device names you pick still have to exist on the machine you’re physically using. If a device dropdown is empty, start JSPrintManager on the workstation and reload.
Admin note
Admins do not edit other users’ workstation preferences — those settings only make sense in the context of the user’s own machine. If a user is having trouble configuring theirs, walk them through this page rather than setting it for them from the Users management screen.
