Push Notifications
Turn on notifications and JewelTrak will alert you the moment a customer texts your store — even when the app is closed and your phone is in your pocket. Tap the notification to jump straight to that conversation.
What you’ll be notified about
- A customer texts your store — everyone on your team who has notifications on gets alerted, so whoever’s free can answer. The alert shows who it’s from and a preview of what they said.
- A text you sent didn’t go through — if a message you sent a customer fails to deliver, you (and only you) get a heads-up so you can reach them another way.
Turning it on
Open the menu under your avatar (top-right) → My Account, click the Preferences tab, and scroll to the Notifications section. Tap Enable notifications on this device and allow notifications when your device asks. That’s it — you’ll get a quick test-it prompt.
You control this per device. Turning it on for your phone doesn’t turn it on for the front-counter computer, and vice versa — set it on each device where you want alerts. You can turn it off again from the same place any time.
On an iPhone or iPad — install first
Apple only allows notifications for apps that have been added to the Home Screen. If you open JewelTrak in Safari, the Notifications section will tell you to install it first. Here’s how:
- Open JewelTrak in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- Choose Add to Home Screen.
- Open JewelTrak from the new icon on your Home Screen.
- Go back to My Account → Preferences → Notifications and tap Enable notifications on this device.
On Android phones and on computers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), notifications work straight from the browser — no install step needed, though installing still gives you a nicer full-screen app.
Not seeing the option, or it won’t turn on
- “Add JewelTrak to your Home Screen first” — you’re on an iPhone or iPad in Safari. Follow the install steps above.
- “Notifications are blocked” — you tapped “Don’t Allow” at some point. Turn notifications for JewelTrak back on in your device or browser settings, then reload the page.
- “Not set up on the server yet” — the store’s notification service hasn’t been configured. This is a one-time setup on the JewelTrak side.
Privacy
The alert shows a customer’s name and a short preview of their message on your lock screen. The message itself travels encrypted — the notification services (Apple, Google) can’t read it. If you’d rather not show message previews on your lock screen at all, every phone has a system-wide setting to hide notification previews; that applies to JewelTrak too.
