Rapaport Variance

For each in-stock diamond that carries a Rap price, how your purchase cost compares to Rap book — variance per carat and percent. Negative means you bought below Rap. Requires the Vendor Cost Report permission.

The Rapaport Variance report compares what you paid for each in-stock diamond against its Rap book price. Use it to judge how well you’re buying and to flag stones bought at or above book. It shows cost, so it requires the Vendor Cost Report permission.

Only diamonds that carry a Rap price (per carat) are listed.

Each row: stock #, shape, size, color, clarity, Rap / ct, Cost / ct, Variance / ct (cost − Rap), and Variance %.

  • Negative variance (green) = you bought below Rap — a good buy.
  • Positive (red) = at or above Rap.

Cost per carat uses the stored per-carat cost, or the total cost ÷ weight when only a total is on file.
