Pair a Stripe Terminal Reader

Connect an in-store card reader (Stripe S710 etc.) to a store so you can charge customers in person.

Pair a Stripe Terminal Reader

A Stripe Terminal reader (such as the Stripe Reader S710) lets you take in-person card payments — chip, tap, swipe, Apple Pay, Google Pay — without typing card numbers. Once paired, the reader is the destination for any Charge with Terminal action on an invoice.

Before you start

  • The store must already be connected to Stripe (Settings → Stores → your store → Stripe section → Connect Stripe). If the connect button is greyed out or shows “restricted”, finish onboarding in your Stripe dashboard first.
  • The store address (line 1, city, postal code, country) must be filled in. Stripe Terminal requires a Location for every reader, and JewelTrak auto-creates that Location from your store address on first pair.
  • Have the reader’s registration code ready. On the S710: tap the gear icon → Generate pairing code. The 16-character code (abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop) appears on the reader’s screen for a few minutes.

Pair the reader

  1. Go to Settings → Stores → your store.
  2. Scroll to the Stripe (customer payments) card. The Stripe Terminal subsection is at the bottom of that card; it appears once Stripe is connected.
  3. Click Pair Reader.
  4. Enter a friendly Label (e.g. Front counter, Back office) — this is how the reader appears in the charge picker.
  5. Type the registration code from the reader.
  6. Click Pair.

The reader appears in the table with a green “online” pill. You’re ready to charge.

Multiple readers per store

Pair as many readers as you need — counter + back office, primary + spare. When charging, you’ll pick which one to send the charge to. If only one reader is paired, JewelTrak picks it automatically.

Simulated reader (testing without hardware)

To validate the workflow before the physical reader arrives — or to demo POS to a teammate — tick Use a simulated reader in the pair dialog. No registration code needed. Simulated readers only work with Stripe test keys; charges are not real and don’t move money. They appear with an amber simulated badge in the readers table.

Refreshing reader status

Click Refresh above the readers table to pull live status from Stripe. JewelTrak also updates the status pill automatically every time a charge is sent to a reader.

Unpairing

Click Unpair on a reader to remove the pairing. Stripe deletes the reader on its side too. Re-pair the same physical device any time using a fresh registration code.
